Our inpatient children and adolescent mental health treatment provides a structured and supportive treatment environment, which promotes self-acceptance and helps young patients stabilize so they can return home or to a less intensive level of care with new coping skills.
A confidential, level of care assessment at admission helps determine the program to which a new patient is assigned and helps develop a treatment plan for your loved one.

After Teen Inpatient Psychiatric Treatment
For teens ages 12-17, Southeast Behavioral Hospital offers outpatient programs along the continuum of care for continued treatment after your loved one’s stay in adolescent inpatient psychiatric treatment.
Once an individual has completed our adolescent inpatient program, we strongly encourage them to continue their progress in our partial hospitalization (full-time day program) or intensive outpatient program (part-time day program). These programs allow them to receive treatment while they live at home.
Studies have shown that individuals who remain in the continuum of care for a longer length of stay have a better chance at avoiding relapse, and continued treatment allows your loved one to practice the treatments and therapies we provide in real life situations.
During their stay, teens in our inpatient psychiatric treatment program can have virtual visits with their family, in addition to phone time to talk to family members as well.
Mental Health and Teens
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) reports that 50% of people who report a mental illness in their lifetime first showed symptoms before the age of 14.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression, anxiety and behavioral disorders are among the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents. WHO also stats that some adolescents are at greater risk of mental health conditions due to their living conditions, stigma, discrimination or exclusion, or lack of access to quality support and services.
It is important to address mental health issues in teens because the consequences of failing to address adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood.
The mental health professionals at Southeast Behavioral Hospital are here to help teens who are struggling with a wide variety of mental health disorders.
Finding the right treatment is key to helping adolescents who are diagnosed with a mental health disorder is key to getting to the root of the issue immediately.
