Our Adult Intensive Outpatient Treatment
The program runs Monday through Friday from 9 am to 12 pm and patients can choose to attend between three and five days per week. Individuals will meet with a board-certified psychiatrist upon admission.
Our intensive outpatient program for adults can help with:
- Anxiety
- Anxiety is one of the most common mental health issues in adults. An intensive outpatient program can help teach coping methods and provide therapies that help with anxiety.
- Depression
- Another common mental health issue in adults, depression is shown to cause a variety of other issues in your life. From relationships, to work, to even your hobbies, getting treatment for depression can be key to a happier, healthier life.
- Stress
- Everyone gets stressed out sometimes, but excessive stress could benefit from therapy. An adult IOP can be a great way to learn how to deal with excessive stress through treatment a few hours a day, a few days per week.
- Eating disorders
- Eating disorders affect people of all ages and genders. Intensive outpatient treatment can help you or your loved one develop the skills needed to overcome your ED.
- Bipolar disorder
- Mood disorders such as bipolar disorder need guidance from professionals to take positive steps forward, and we’re here to help.
- Self-harm behaviors
- A dangerous mental health issue, individuals who partake in self-harm behaviors should seek help from a mental health treatment facility as soon as possible.
- Suicidal thoughts
- Southeast Behavioral Hospital is here to help individuals struggling with suicidal thoughts.
Remember, if you are seriously considering suicide or have attempted suicide, call 9-1-1.

What is an Adult Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program
An adult psychiatric intensive outpatient program is a part-time day program that meets for a few hours a day, a few days a week — far less than partial hospitalization and inpatient care.
The treatment program is based off of a treatment plan, and usually includes many of the same behavioral health and mental health treatment services as stricter levels of care.
Our Adult IOP level of care can serve as a step-down program for patients who have completed inpatient treatment but may need additional support as they transition back into their home environment. It can also serve as stand-alone treatment for those who do not need around-the-clock care.
